The 3 Membership types available

Suitability

Accredited Membership is suitable for current practising and experienced consultant arborists. The purpose of accredited membership is for members to contribute to the ongoing development of professional consulting arboriculture and provide the highest standard of arboricultural consultancy to the community. Applicants will receive constructive feedback on reports submitted, from a committee of current Accredited IACA members. Refer to the Report Types Checklist prior to applying.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Agree to the Code of Ethics
  • Satisfy the relevant criteria for membership set out in clause 6 of the Constitution
  • Satisfy the OPAL requirements of 10 points per year
  • Maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance (min $2m) and Public Liability Insurance (min $5m)
  • Able to demonstrate report writing quality meets expected standards, including the IACA Report Types Checklists & Guidelines

  • Complete the online Application Form
  • Copy of AQF5 Arboriculture qualification or equivalent
  • Copy of Professional Indemnity Insurance (min. $2m) Certificate of Currency
  • Copy of Public Liability Insurance (min $5m) Certificate of Currency
  • Brief resume
  • 3 x Arboricultural Reports (of 3 different types)

Suitability

Associate Membership is suitable for students, graduates, new practitioners and established practitioners seeking to upskill through mentoring and collaboration. The purpose of associate membership is to provide guidance and support to those who may wish to become an Accredited Member in future, by offering collegiate dialogue and shared knowledge, with opportunities to be involved in arboricultural consultancy and gain exposure to the industry.

  • Satisfy the relevant criteria for membership in set out in clause 7 of the Constitution
  • Satisfy the OPAL requirements of 5 points per year
  • Maintain Professional Indemnity Insurance (min. $2m)

Suitability

Affiliate Membership is suitable for professionals in related disciplines (such as landscape, architecture, engineering, municipal arborists) or retired arboriculturists. The purpose of affiliate membership is to provide opportunities to exchange knowledge with those working in arboricultural consultancy to improve tree management through ongoing collegiate dialogue and shared knowledge.
