If you are an AQF Level 5 Arborist (or approved equivalent) you are invited to apply for membership of IACA. Apart from being part of a collegiate group of professionals, being an Accredited member of IACA also offers the benefits of inclusion on the published and linked membership list, discounts at seminars and conferences, the exchange of knowledge and ideas with fellow arboriculturists and the opportunity to participate in the future direction of IACA. IACA membership is an integral part of professional consulting arboriculture.

The Institute has recently updated its Constitution, and introduced new membership categories. Some eligibility and application requirements have changed, and the benefits available to all member categories is continually expanding. IACA remains the peak body for Consulting Arboriculturists (defined in the IACA Constitution as 'a person with a minimum AQF Level 5 or equivalent qualification in arboriculture who does not have a financial or personal interest in a Tree Contracting Business, including ownership or management of such business, or being employed by or providing consultancy on behalf of such business'). The new categories are:

  • Accredited Member - suitable for current practising and experienced consultant arborists.
  • Associate Member - suitable for students, graduates and new practitioners.
